Buffalo Bison fans left Westwood happy Friday after watching their team gain a win over the host Westwood Panthers with a final score of 19-1.

“It was hard to lose our first game of the season the week before,” sophomore Aiden Savage said. “After working hard last week and fixing our mistakes, we pulled out a win.”

Junior Kyle Harrison went in for a 43-yard touchdown in the top of the half, followed by a 17-yard run made by senior Catch Thompson.

“We had a strong start at the beginning of the game,” Thompson said. “We pulled off a great victory over Westwood.”

Savage started back up the third quarter with a 65-yard touchdown pass. Only a sophomore, he has the backing of the rest of the team.

“It’s a big role for such a little guy, but he has worked hard and I know he’s going to do great,” teammate Maddox Hardin said. “This season is going to be great, and I know our district games are only going to get better.”

This year the Buffalo Bison have a new coaching staff, with coach Evan Stone moving into the athletic director position and multiple new staff members.

“My favorite part about coaching both boys and girls here in Buffalo has to be seeing the growth and development of our boys and girls,” Stone said. “They have turned into not only active members of the sports teams, but also productive members of their school community and the community of Buffalo. It has truly been fun watching these kids compete on the field, on the court and in life.”
