Sophomore Abby Brewer competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HSLR) on March 19 in the Calf Scramble Steer Show and the Junior Market Steer Show.

“I have shown for a while now, but I was really nervous before these shows,” Brewer said. “The HSLR is one of the largest exhibitions and rodeo in the world so I was very anxious.”

Abby showed her steer in both shows. In the calf scramble, Abby won Grand Champion, and in the Junior Market Show she placed ninth out of 35 steers in her class and made the sale.

“Winning Grand Champion in the calf scramble and placing ninth in the Junior Market show was so exciting,” Brewer said. “I competed with quite a few people, so I was just really happy and proud of myself.”

Abby received a banner, a buckle and a trophy in the Calf Scramble Steer Show, and she received a ribbon in the Junior Market Show.

“Overall, I had a great experience and so much fun,” Brewer said. “I had a blast with all my family and friends.”
