Private spacecraft set to orbit

Private+spacecraft+set+to+orbit

Israel is shooting for the stars- literally. SpaceIL private spacecraft, called the “Beresheet,” will be sent into orbit on Thursday on board a Falcon 9 rocket.

Hoping to become the fourth country to have a “soft landing” on the moon, the five-foot craft will venture on a seven-week journey into space. Before landing on the moon, the Beresheet will first orbit the earth.

Before landing, the Bresheet will circle the earth several times before gaining enough speed to reach the moon. The 4-million-mile journey is scheduled to land on April 11.
