The Netflix movie Dumplin makes a statement about body image and appearance and how our society views us according to how we look.
A teen girl, Dumplin (Danielle Macdonald), is a plus-size girl who enters a beauty pageant. She thinks her size will be a disadvantage and attempts to do something about it.
While most of the other girls are smaller and thinner, she gets angrier, more self-conscious… her point in signing up is to make a message that to be beautiful, you don’t have to win a pageant and you don’t have to be super skinny.
Every woman with an amazing heart like Dumplin is beautiful inside and out, and this movie showcases this message. This heart-warming film is too good to pass up. Once I started watching it, I couldn’t stop.
