The indie/ synth-pop band, The 1975, released a brand new album. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships was released November 30, 2018 featuring 15 unique songs. Since the band is constantly creating music, The 1975 releases new music a lot. This new album wasn’t just thrown together though.

The 1975 is always working to please fans. In fact, lead singer Matty Healy decided to announce concerts for each album and EP. On night one, only EP’s will be played. On night two, the band will play their self titled album. On night three, The 1975 will play songs from the album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It. On night four, they will play titles from the album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships. On night five, the band will give a sneak peak on their 2019 album Notes On A Conditional Form. On the final night, The 1975 will play all of their greatest hits, including the songs “Chocolate” and “Somebody Else”.

“We’re dressed in black from head to toe. We’ve got guns hidden under our petticoats.”~Chocolate

The new album runs together with transitions. Putting a transition song in between two other songs really strings an album together in my opinion. A few transition songs include “How To Draw/ Petrichor” and “The 1975”.

“I don’t want your body but I hate to think about you with somebody else. Our love has gone cold. You’re intertwining your soul with somebody else.” ~Somebody Else

This album has been a lot softer than past albums but it was easier to choose a favourite song. “Give Yourself A Try” and “TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” are my favourites because they’re more upbeat and unique compared to the other songs.

“You learn a couple things when you get to my age like friends don’t lie and it all tastes the same in the dark. When your vinyl and your coffee collection is a sign of the times, you’re getting spiritually enlightened at 29.”

If you are not a fan of The 1975, listening to older albums before this one would be a smart choice. It may be hard to understand what kind of music they produce without knowing who they are before you listen.
