Later start times benefit students

Later start times benefit students

Schools all around the world are caught in a debate that has been going on for years. To separate the true from the false, school educators and researchers are conducting experiments, collecting data, and asking questions to figure out if later school start times improve student performances.

Using the results concluded from experiments, people believe that students that start school later tend to perform better. In fact, a study showed that there was a positive association between later start times and test scores.

Studies show that later start times are healthier for the students, as well. Teens need about 9.25 hours of sleep each night, a difficult amount to obtain with such an early school start time. With later start times, students are able to get more sleep, therefore preparing them for the next school day. As a result, teens will be more aware and more focused, allowing them to do better in school.
